My Top 3 best dressed celebrities of 2021

Now that 2021 has almost come to an end, I wanted to look into the archives of the year and determine who in my opinion rocked the red carpets, Met Gala and street style looks this year. Of course, this is only my opinion and some of you might think, just like many of us thought when Vogue crowned Kendall Jenner to be the best dressed person of 2021: ‘What is she talking about?’. But that is okay, everyone of us is entitled to their own opinion and if you have anything to share or celebrities you would like me to check out, well ladies and gents, the comment section is open for you.

Now let’s get this party started! Quick disclaimer: the order is random, the first person mentioned does not necessarily have to be one first place.

1: Zoe Kravitz

Let’s start with, yes some of you might have already guessed this one: Zoe Kravitz. An absolute style icon, both for events and for her everyday looks to stroll around New York City. Her silhouettes are so effortless but chic and put together in some ways even vintage and so many people are in love with the looks she serves. I am no exception to this. She manages to combine simple pieces but make it a look. Her everyday staple pieces seem to be a simple tank top, a flowing mid length or long skirt and some kind of sandal, heeled or flat, then of course paired with her iconic small framed sunglasses, a bag and minimalistic jewellery. My favorite part about her outfits: she is not bothered to wear bras, and why should she? We are big supporters of ‘Free the nipples' movement over here. Why you may ask? It is a movement that is barely a decade old but has seen a lot of support from individuals all over the world. It points out the double standard there is and protests against the censorship that exists on female bodies both in real life and on social media, because the nude female body is often seen as a taboo outside of film and other types of videography. The movement is a fight for equality between genders, once again, and it points out the absurdity that men are allowed to go topless or let their nipples show but when women do the exact same thing it is considered to be inappropriate and scandalous. Anyways, now back to Miss Kravitz’s looks of the year. The one we all know and love (at least me) is the sheer, crystal dress by Yves Saint Laurent that she wore to the Met Gala of 2021. The piece is so characteristic of her: effortless, elongated silhouettes but upgraded with a disco feeling for the sake of the event. She looked absolutely stunning in her ‘robe en cristaux’ from the French designer, paired with small glitter earrings and simple heels, which seem to be another staple in her wardrobe.

2: Lily Rose Depp

Next up: Lily Rose Depp. The daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis. She mixes the Parisian silhouettes with the New York one in a way that makes up a very simple but nice looking silhouette. Her staple pieces seem to be small Chanel sunglasses, low rise and straight cut jeans with a small but simple top and most often an oversized leather jacket on top. The look is combined with a small bag and either a pair of sneakers or a pair of Chanel shoes, heeled or flat depending on the day and look. she overall just has a simple style that alternates between pants and skirts paired with simple top, short or long sleeved but never without her sunnies. For her red carpet looks, Lily Rose Depp often collaborates with the French brand Chanel which in my opinion, perfectly embraces her style, classy, chic, Parisian. My all time favorite look of her is not of 2021 but of 2019, the one she presented as part of the Premiere of ‘The King’. At the time, she was still in a relationship with Timothée Chalament and the couple was the star of the Mostra de Venise. She wore a beautiful blush pink dress crafted by Chanel. It was a long, flowy and flattering dress with a beautiful ‘bustier’ and a sort of thin scarf around her neck to complete the look. She looked absolutely stunning and I think that will remain my all-time favorite look of hers.

3: Rihanna

You can’t do the best styled celebrities without mentioning Rihanna. She is a style icon in every sense of the word, she does not only play by her own rules in the music industry but also when it comes to fashion. And her looks never disappoint. What I love about her is that she follows what she loves, she comes up with sometimes over the top everyday looks and I am all here for it. Fashion is not there to be mundane, it is meant to be fun and to play with it and that is exactly what Rihanna does. she loves alternating between very femme and chic looks and street style, more laid-back silhouettesm often times, she combines the two in one look. This year, she served one look after the other and below you can find some of my personal favorite looks of hers. You can see that she thoroughly enjoys fashion and uses it as a means of expression. When it comes to her red carpet looks, Rihanna has been dressed by every big and international designer out there, from Tom Ford to Gucci to Balenciaga, everyone loves her and everyone wants to dress her. I assume everyone has seen her most memorable red carpet look of the year: the Balenciaga piece worn to the Met Gala alongside her new partner ASAP Rocky. Now, personally I do not think that this year’s Met Gala look was her best yet but it was definitely one to remember. I do, however, think that she served better looks in previous years, especially in 2015 with her Guo Pei gown and in 2018 in a John Galliano piece.

These might have been predictable to some of you but you need to give credit where it needs to be given. I know that the list could go on and on, especially adding Bella Hadid to it, to me the queen of street style but I wanted to switch it up a bit for this listing.
