You're wondering which pieces should be part of your wardrobe for the upcoming Spring season of 2022? I got your back! This post outlines 5 of the most fun, simple and accessible trends you should be on the lookout for.

N°1: Bras as tops

Small, simple bras have taken over the runway looks for Spring/Summer 2022. The trend that has already been around last season, seems to remain popular among designers and could be spotted on the catwalks of Fendi, Brandon Maxwell and Jonathon Simkhai, but these are not the only ones that made the small top part of their SS22 looks.

This micro-trend is a result of our desire to stand out after a year of being inside, it is however also one of the most accessible and easily adaptable trends of the season. Influencers have been loving it and often pair it with a wide leg trouser and oversized blazer set along with a pair of sunglasses (mind you, green ones are supposed to be hot hot hot for the spring season) and of course a small bag because which look is complete without a bag?

Prices for this trendy piece depend on which market you decide to shop at. Mid-range bras are offered by the brand ‘Fleur du Mal’ for around 98€, high range bras can be found at the popular French brand Jacquemus for around 192€ and for the ones of us that are on a budget sustainably made bras can be found at Proclaim (ca 59€) or Pansy (ca 52€). So what are you waiting for? Go get yourself a nice comfortable bra top that you can wear as part of this trend or simply in its regular condition under you garments to protect and support you!

N°2: Low waist everything

Yeah, you’re right.. we all said 2000’s fashion was horrible. But guess what, she is back in trend and she is going strong!

One of the fashion industry’s favourite trends seems to be the low-rung waists. Whether in the form of pants, jeans or skirts, low rise is everywhere from the catwalks of Versace to the catwalks of Staud.

And don’t you even think of hiding your body with an oversized top, no the fashion designers are going for a full on drama look with cropped top and low rise bottoms. Be ready to let go of your high rise jeans that are too tight around your belly and are uncomfortable when sitting down. If you follow this trend, let me tell you, you will be released from your past pains!

Pay attention to how low rise you purchase your jeans, we don’t want no buttcracks on show here!

Anyways, if you consider hopping on this trend, you can easily find a pair at your local second hand shop or you can opt for a quality pair of new Levi’s for around 130€ and if your budget is a bit tight, NA-KD offers low rise jeans for 57,95€. On this note, I would however advise you to first check out your local shops and vintage stores, in which you can often find real bargains and will be less harmful to the environment:)

N°3: Did you get a discount with all these holes in your clothes? Yes, we are talking cut outs here

Now this trend has already had its time to shine last season but apparently fashion designers can’t get enough of it and let’s be honest, they do look good!

Cut outs can be made in a simple or a more over the top which offers anyone the opportunity to hop on the trend. Moreover, I think the fact that this trend has been around for a bit means that we are not growing tired of it any time soon, good thing for your budget and the planet. You can now rewear the cut out item you have purchased last year and still be on trend.

I think it is great that some trends stick around longer and the trend cycle in general seems to get a tiny bit slower which mother Earth is definitely very thankful for.

Anyways, if you have no idea what I am talking about, great cutout looks can be found on the catwalks of Jonathon Simkhai and Supriya Lele, two brilliant designers. If designer is not your cup of tea, Zara offers cutout pieces as well but honey no other trend calls a Do-It-Yourself session as much as this one. So find that piece you have not been wearing in the past three years and get yourself a pair of scissors and voilà you got a new trendy and funky piece in your closet!

N°4: It's a sparkle party

You are now not only allowed to sparkle and shine on New Years Eve but can keep it on until Spring Summer season 2022! I am truly excited about this one, I mean who of us hasn’t seen the iconic pink shiny look of Versace worn by the one and only Dua Lipa?

After having to stay home in our sweats for long enough, it seems that loud and fun trends have come to the surface. The sequined ensembles, dresses, tops or bottoms definitely put everyone into a party mood. We have been seeing the sequined favourite on almost every catwalk out there from Versace to Emporio Armani to Khaite. So be ready to take out your favourite glitter piece because you are going to need it next season.

If you don’t have one yet, honey what are you waiting for? If you love luxury and want pink sparkly pants then I advise you to go to Paco Rabanne, if you want to achieve the same look for a lesser price, check out the small Danish brand Baun Studios. They sell glitter pants in several colours for around 100€, influencers have been loving them and the brand is definitely worth checking out!

Other sequined pieces can be found at trusty Zara (is there anything they don’t have?) but once again, second hand stores, online and offline might have similar looks for cheaper and more sustainable.

N°5: Skirt sets

I hope you love your skirts because they have been all over town! The hottest trend of them all? Skirt sets, whether in a classic Christian Dior kind of way or a more laid-back and modern Marine Serre one, the catwalks forecast this trend to be big.

Sets are always an easy and fun way to look put together in just one step. There is not much that can go wrong with this trend and there is definitely a set out there for every fashion taste. For a more classy and elegant look, you can opt for a straight, short skirt with a matching blazer, cropped or not. If you prefer being comfortable, knitted sets might be a great option for you. Being comfortable and looking good, there is nothing better than that! The best thing about this trend is its versatility. You can go for a monochrome look with a closed jacket or you can decide to break the montone look by leaving it open and adding a top of your choice. It can also always be dressed up with some heels, flats or sandals or can be dressed down for a laid-back everyday look by pairing the set with a pair of sneakers, loafers or platform boots.

The best thing is that if you ever feel tired of wearing the set, each piece can be combined in various other ways on its own.

The ensembles can be found online on NA-KD or Asos for affordable prices, or for a more conscious choice at BAUN Studios, which offer you sets of sequined pants and a matching one shoulder top. If you love a more toned down look, COS is a great place for simple, timeless pieces of good quality and accessible prices.
